Every year, we give a percentage of our revenues to selected organizations. We thank all our customers for making this possible due to the projects we are allowed to work on.
The key objectives of our contributions are to support education or healthcare for people who have limited access and to help women to live a self-confident and dignified life. The projects supported by us include the following:
Manjushri Non-profit Association (http://www.manjushri-verein.ch)
… for the advancement of education, the preservation of the Tibetan culture and support of institutions and projects in the interest of the Tibetan exile society in Nepal. The project supports the Manjughoksha Academy which meanwhile educates around 500 children between 3 and 17 years of age.
Specifically, we are supporting the regular medical attendance and all medicines for all children whose parents cannot afford those (see pictures). This is an important additional service of the school to the families as there is no public healthcare system.
Previously, we also funded a daily fruit supply to the children at school (an apple a day ….) and rebuilding measures after the earthquake.
Report from 2024
The doctor comes every two weeks and examines around 40 children at a time. 20 are routine examinations, so every child has a check-up on
ce a year. The others call by themselves if they have any complaints. Five of those mostly have nothing, they just want to say hello – which also shows how much they trust him. About five others have a real problem and the remaining ten have minor complaints such as muscle problems (he says mostly from running around too much), or a cold or mouth ulcers.
The nurse is permanently employed at the school. She also sleeps at the school. It is often at night that a child needs something. At home these children would go to their mother or father, here it is the nurse … she also administers all the medication.
Occasionally, there are more serious incidences – in 2024, one child had to be hospitalized, which was also covered by the school’s healthcare fund.
Towards the end of 2024, the school conducted aTB screening. Unfortunately, the results are a bit alarming. The day students (160) were the first to be screened and unfortunately, 30 showed a positive reaction and need further testing, i.e. X-rays and a further diagnostic tests. The boarding children are not yet tested. In any case, the school will face additional cost for treating all children tested positive.
